MP3 Composer Project

Currently 136 pages and growing.

I'm deeply interested in hearing composer concert mp3 files generously provided by performers eager to have their work recognized   They perform a great service to those of us who wish to listen to the classics and many new music  works of the 20th & 21st Centuries.  "I Write The Music" will catalogue these offerings.  I hope that you enjoy and learn from these mp3s.

Try to listen as a student

Feel the musical form of the piece.  Try to visualize the music notation.
Can you identify the Roman Numeral functions of the chord patterns
Feel the shape of the melodic line (the high, low & climax points of a phrase
Does it repeat? Are there melodic variations?  Is there motivic development
Is there a bass line grounding the entire texture?
How would you describe the texture of what you are hearing?
Is the rhythm of a simple or complex nature?
Does the music have a recognizable style?
How do you rate the musical integrity of the piece?
Is it a greater or lesserwork?
Is it deeply profound?
How does it make you feel?
Are there lots of inner voicings?
Can you picture yourself re-arrangingportions or basing an improvisation  on it?
Are there  musical elementsof the piece you would like to incorporate into your own  musical language?
This is quite allright, by the way. (You Do want your own originalty)
All creative musicians derive their originality through understanding the works of others.
Learn from the best.
What makes Bach sound different than Scarlatti?
How does Beethoven sound different than Haydn?

Try listening to Schoenberg then Stockhausen.   Debussy then Ibert. Mozart then Schubert.   Get the idea?

Compare and contrast.
Your  creative experienes as a composer grow and mature as you are willing to hear
really listen to new music...and old music in new ways.

I hope you enjoy "I Write The Music"'s  MP3 Composers Project

Your creative sub-conscious is ready to soar!
